Hello John Panton
The german federal printers association has updated their standards for
contract proofing and quality control in the press room.
For sending data and proofs to german customers, use ISOcoated,
ISOwebcoated etc.
Some big german prepress houses with international customers use this
ISO-Profiles also for countries which have positive platemaking processes.
As other countries have not so clear defined standards for digital
contract proofing, it depends on the printing house, if they can better
reach a proof based on ISOcoated or the old FOGRA r1, r2

Dear List
I get all your mail in German, and with much difficulty in translating,
learn some valuable information.
Unfortunately my writing German would be almost impossible, so I will
try in English.
In following the guidelines from the ECI for creating a Contract Proof
with Generic profiles for Offset printing, what would the correct
reference profile be.
My confusion comes from the fact that we have the Fogra r1( Gloss
coated Miedensdruck) and Fogra r2 (matt coated Miedensdruck) standards,
and we also have the ISO Coated / uncoated and Web coated standards.
These standards have significantly different color gamuts as well as dot
gains.
So in the terms of the ECI guidelines which would be a better reference
profile for creating a proof for Offset printing on say 90g Gloss coated
media or Matt coated media with a Generic Profile ?
Thank you for your Input
