Hi
I have taken 4 test images and separated them using:
1) ISO coated v2 eci 330
2) ISO coated v2 VIGC 320
3) Fogra 51 M0
4) GRACol 2013 CRPC6
I then proofed them on a EFI Fiery XF rip to a Epson 7900, to a Fogra 39
simulation profile to see the visual effects of mixing these profiles in a
current Fofra 39 printing condition. Then validated to this condition to
ISO 12647/7.
The results are interesting. Visually the Fogra 51 and GRACol images are a
close match to the two sets of images using the Fogra 39 based profiles.
The main area of difference, as may be expected, is in the mid tones. For
the Fogra 51 the common CMYK TVI is slightly noticeable. This mid tone
difference is also slightly visible with the GRACol CRPC 6 profile which
allows for a higher K TVI.
I intend to do further tests using differing images which may point to
greater differences, but at the moment my first thoughts are that, for
most work, images using these profiles may be interchangeable using the
differing printing conditions.
I also hope later this year to carry out press tests using these profiles
and these printing conditions and inter-changing between them.
Regards
Paul Sherfield
