Hi All
Can I ask you a quick question please?
I have the task of checking running sheets for a dozen or so suppliers
and want use the Eye-One with Measure Tool 5 software from X-Rite
But.. I don’t have the measurement table that is needed to test sheets
to FOGRA39. It’s not in the software and I can’t find it on x-rite
website or searching the web!..
I will be sampling the standard Ugra/FOGRA-Medienkiel CMYk-TIFF V2.0a.
It would be similar to the ‘2x_MW2_FOGRA27L_SB.txt’ one which is
installed with Measure Tool, but with the FOGRA39 data.
In theory I could make one from the 1617 sets from the main lookup table
here
_http://www.color.org/FOGRA39L.txt_ if I knew which ones to use..
It's easier when you start with the MediaWedge v3 Subsets available at
forgra.org: <http://www.fogra.org/mediawedge/MediaWedge3_Subsets.zip>
They contain still more patches than you need, but its's easier to
extract 42 out of 72 then out of 1617 patches (MediaWedge v2 is a subset
of MediaWedge v3).
The patch sequence you need is:
1 2 3 6 7 8 11 12 13 54 55 56 57 58 59 60 61 16 17 18 19 20 21 25
26 27 30 31 32 35 36 37 62 63 64 65 66 67 68 69 40 41 42 43 44 45
BTW: there's a newer evaluation method with tighter tolerances and
additional criteria based on ISO 12647-7: See
<http://www.fogra.org/mediawedge/index-en.html> and
<http://www.bvdm-online.de/Aktuelles/Downloads.php> (MedienStandard
Druck 2008, only in German).
There are several commercial applications available to perform
UGRA/FOGRA MediaWedge v2/v3 evaluation with up-to-date tolerances and
criteria.
I can also offer tailor-made solutions based on my evaluation framework
written in R (The R Project for Statistical Computing,
<http://www.r-project.org/>).
The framework is capable to carry out complete MediaWedge v3 evaluations
for any reference condition with a single function call, to create PDFs
with descriptive plots, to print labels or to carry out more
sophisticated long-term evaluations and various reports for quality
control purposes, to read/write measurement files and evaluation results
from/to SQL databases and much more.
Creating the table you need with my framework requires only 3 lines of
code:
# read the reference file (FOGRA39L.txt would work as well)
F39subset <- readCgats("MediaWedge3_Subsets/FOGRA39_MW3_Subset.txt")
# read the MeasureTool evaluation file
mk2MT <- readCgats("2x_MW2_FOGRA27L_SB.txt")
# select the patches requred:
mk2MTf39 <- selectPatches(mk2MT[c("SAMPLE_NAME", cmyk)], F39subset,
roundTo8Bit=FALSE)
# print the result:
mk2MTf39[,c("SAMPLE_NAME",cmyk,lab)]
