The actual files for the Altona Test Suite (including pretty
extensive documentation that explains how to use it) are free of
charge and can be downloaded from the ECI website (look for it in the
downloads area).
What you get when you pay for when buying the full Altona Test Suite are
- prints (printed on various paper types within narrow tolerances)
that make it very straightforward to compare your own prints (from
proofing and from running the press) or even your soft proofing setup
with these prints
- the Visual page contains a Fogra control strip to make especially
proof evaluation more straightforward
One other package that has been welcomed by many as an indispensable
additional tool are the Roman16 reference images, see:
http://www.roman16.com/en/
a series of 16 images each focusing on an important aspect of color.
Makes it easy to spot overall 'inconsistencies in color reproduction.
