Hi again Roger
We tested the Basicolor v2 coated profile against the ECI version on a
number of Adobe RGB images were the blue to purple issue had been commented
upon by the design team.
We reviewed the images, separated from Adobe RGB to both profiles and
proofed on an GMG driven Epson.
The Basicolor profile improved the blues in question and some reds.

Hi Roger
Happy to help with any tests, you can get the profile, free, from this site
and use it yourself also.

HI
Just a comment re the above. I think the clients attitude to the 'blue to
purple' issue with the ECI based v2 profiles depends on their market and
their own colour quality issues.
I have used and recommended the Basicolor v2 profiles to some demanding
clients who have seen the improvement in RGB to CMYK conversations in the
saturated RGB blue and red areas.

Hi Roger
Yes, using RelCol and BPC, within an automated RGB to CMYK workflow, gives
the best results with these profiles.

The concerns some have in regards to the ISO_Coatedv2_eci profile
revolve around issues of gamut mapping and smoothness, in particular out
of gamut blues tend to reproduce rather purplish when converted using
this profile with the relative/Absolute rendering intents (not so much
with perceptual). This issue isn't always manifested in images, but it
can be a concern in some cases. There are other sources of profiles
created from the Fogra39 dataset (www.colormanagement.org for one) that
minimize this issue, or you could create your own if you have the means
and if you deem this problematic for you.
