Greg, PDF/X-4 are based on PDF1.6 and therefore you shouldn't have major issues with
transparencies. We are Esko users too :)
Which version of Esko software are you running? I mean since Esko Suite 12 there have been
a lot of improvements. Indeed Esko suite 12 also passed the PDF/X-4 audit of the VIGC in
April 2012, and the test files included the Altona v2 test suite and the GWG output suite.
Esko didn't get the same label as EFI did (Perfect 100% score) but good enough. At
this moment on, for exporting to PDF/X-4 they suggest to use the task "Preflight with
PitStop" instead of the "Export to PDF" task.

Asunto: [ECI-EN] Altona Test Suite 2.0 for PDF 1.6
We are in the process of testing different versions of pdfs for proofing. With our
current workflow we are creating pdf1.6 using Esko software. I took the Altona 2.0 PDF/x4
and exported it using Esko software to a 1.6 version and now the pdf has a lot of
transparency issues. Is this expected behavior with going from pdf/x4 to pdf1.6?
Unfortunately Esko doesn't give you the option to create pdf/x4. Can Altona Test
Suite be used for pdf1.6 or is it strictly for pdf/4x? From what I have read it sounds
like it but want to verify if anyone else has experienced this challenge.
