Hi xxx
There is a limit being applied by the profile, but it is dependent on the choice of
rendering intent and Black Point Compensation.
The profiles default rendering intent is perceptual. Try without "Use Black Point
Compensation" Then you get 240%.
According to ISO12647-3/2005 SE - Coldset offset lithography on newsprint
4.2.7 Tone value sum
Unless otherwise specified, the tone value sum should not exceed 240% and shall not exceed
260%
NB. Should not exceed 240%, not necessarily 240%.
Maybe this will be of interest:
By John Nate - Special to Newspapers & Technology
"All of our recent testing and all the recommendations by the Newspaper Association
of America and Ifra recommend using perceptual. While relative with black point of the
destination works for many print environments, perceptual simply gives us better results
in saturated and shadow colors today while maintaining good tonality through the printable
tone range".
