The issue is not whether the process is invalid. The issue is whether
the process functions when pages proof and print in many places. The
only way to do that is with instrument-based colorimetric tolerances.
Instrument-based colorimetric tolerances are simply an adjunct to the
portability of PDF. Sooner or later the U.S. is going to have to make
this basic connection.
