On the other hand I sometimes see quite a lack of
knowledge at the
printers side where people like to stick to CMYK workflows just because
they do not know how to use the new workflows and tools or they just do
not have the required up-to-date tools.
I agree - and I also wanted to try to repeat that because the number of
printers in the world is much smaller than the number of people creating
documents for print production, it makes more sense to focus on educating
the printers and have them learn how to handle device independent data
and how to get hold of the necessary tools and use them.
A few years ago this would have been so much harder and much more
expensive. Today - especially when focussing on PDF based workflows -
tools have become relatively inexpensive, and sources of education are
more readily available. It may still be challenging here and there, but
it definitely is not rocket science anymore, and would be one of the
smartest investments (in time and money) that a printer could do today
(so we have him still around tomorrow ;->).
Some work to do on that side of the chain!
So let's get started. What would be the best approach to get this going?
How can we make printers hungry for device independent data?
