Hi Paul.
Many thanks for the research,
It would be
interesting to compare Bobs ProfileMaker FOGRA 27 profiles to the
above?
Would indeed. But how ? We'd have to have some sort of level playing
field , and our studio doesn't use one 'standard' FOGRA 27L profile.
We vary black generation to suit the image we're going to separate (
and wouldn't normally run to 100% black as per the ECI profiles). We
are also not averse to exceeding certain theoretical ink limits on some
types of image. And we also generate profiles using the various options
available in Profilemaker to increase chroma etc. And then there is
the small problem of licensing. But I'd be happy to give it a go , time
permitting.
In the meantime , it 's no great shakes for anybody with Profilemaker
5 and access to the internet to generate a 'generic' FOGRA 27L using
the same press description as per ECI and making the comparison. Be
interesting to get other peoples opinions of this.
The above findings were reflected in the appearance of
the images, the
ISO
coated profile seemed the best visual match to the RGB images compared.
Is the visual match being made on a monitor or proof? Or Press :-) ?
Also , as you of course well know , it takes loads of different types
of demanding images to truly test a profile visually. We have an in
house selection of really nasty ones ( and that's just the photography
! <BG> ) .
Hope to see you soon at one of the various and varied meetings in
London where we may be able to push this a little further.
Kind regards,
