This is NOT the ONLY way to go. You should download basICColor catch
from
http://www.basiccolor.de/download/trial/download_form.asp?trdId=31
for Mac, or
http://www.basiccolor.de/download/trial/download_form.asp?trdId=29
for Windows
and get a 14 days Demo License for the control module over the web.
The same FOGRA reference data will be installed with this product, but
checking the media wedge (or any other target) is much more elegant and
intuitive with control. In addition you can select any ICC-profile in
lieu of reference data, that allows you to perform quality control on
any printing process, not only the ISO standardized processes for which
the media wedge reference values exist.
Since basICColor catch supports nearly all measurement instruments, you
can measure and validate in one app - proof check in less than 45
seconds, including reports that can be printed or published on the web.

This is the only way to go IMHO. But I'll grant that the limitation
with ICC workflows is that the instrument and the software are in
addition to the digital color printer, the substrate, the monitor, the
Adobe software, the monitor and the kitchen sink. So in all fairness
there is a place for the pre-certified approach, even if it is nice to
hit on it once in a while -:).
Thanks,
