im Wiki unserer Arbeitskreises können liegt unter "Documents" ein ZIP-
Archiv mit zwei Profilen für die neue Offsetdruckbedingung FOGRA42
(Heatset Rollenoffset auf Standardzeitungspapier):

Hiermit bitte ich alle Arbeitskreismitglieder, insbesondere Jo
Brunenberg und Guido Hochstrate als Vertreter des Rollenoffsetdrucks,
um Ihre Meinung zum *Separationsverhalten* der beiden Profilen - die
Proofqualität wurde bereits ausführlich getestet und für gut befunden:
(1) PSO_SNP_Paper_eci_CT3_GCR50
Dieses Profil wurde mit den folgenden Einstellungen erzeugt:
- TAC: 260%
- max. Schwarz: 98%
- GCR: 50
- Mitteltonaufhellung: -2 (dunkler, um wie bei ISO Coated v2 die
Mitteltonaufhellung im perceptual Rendering Intent zu verringern)
(2) PSO_SNP_Paper_eci_CT3
- TAC: 260%
- max. Schwarz: 98%
- Schwarz Länge: 9 (Einsatzpunkt bei 10% Cyan)
- Schwarz Breite: 10
- Mitteltonaufhellung: -2 (dunkler, um wie bei ISO Coated v2 die
Mitteltonaufhellung im perceptual Rendering Intent zu verringern)
Anmerkung:
Diese Profile wurden entgegen der ursprünglichen Planung *nicht* mit
ColorLogic Software erstellt. Von Roman Keller mit der aktuellen
Version der Software erstellte Profile weisen Fehler auf, die von
ColorLogic erst behoben werden müssen (Abrisse, Tonwertumkehrungen).
ColorLogic ist bereits informiert, hat die Schwachstellen erkannt.
Um die Veröffentlichung des Profilpakets nicht durch Analyse der
Ursachen und die Korrekturen der ColorLogic-Software zu verzögern,
werden die ECI Offsetprofile für alle vier neuen Druckbedingungen mit
Heidelberg ColorTool3 erstellt (zwei Profile für nicht periodische
Raster, Rollenoffset für MFC und für SNP Papier).

hiermit leite ich gern die Mail von Olaf Drümmer mit der Empfehlung
des ECI Beirats an unseren Arbeitskreis zum weiteren Vorgehen
hinsichtlich der Erzeugung und Veröffentlichen von ECI Profilen weiter.
Ich bitte um Entschuldigung, dass dies erst jetzt geschieht. Ich war
der offensichtlich irrigen Meinung, dass die Mail bereits Anfang April
an den kompletten Arbeitskreis ging.
Ich bitte um Ihre/ Eure Meinung zu den Empfehlungen des ECI Beirats:
- Zustimmung, oder
- falls Diskussionsbedarf bestehen sollte, bitte ich um Ihre/ Eure
Anmerkungen zu den betreffenden Punkten.

Liebe Kollegen,
für eine neue Druckbedingung (FOGRA42, Heatset Rollenoffset auf
Standardzeitungspapier, SNP für Standard Newsprint) steht die
Erzeugung eines ECI-Offsetprofils an.
Sollten keine Einwände gegen die Empfehlungen des ECI-Beirats bestehen
(siehe separate Mail), möchte ich vorschlagen, dass das Profil durch
unseren Arbeitskreis folgendermaßen erstellt und geprüft wird:
(1) Erzeugung des Profils mit ColorLogic Software
(Roman Keller hat sich dazu bereits bereit erklärt)
(2) Verteilung des Profils im Arbeitskreis und der WOWG (Arbeitskreis
Rollenoffset) zur Prüfung und Abstimmung
An der Stelle eine Anmerkung: die Charakterisierungsdatei, bzw. die
Proofqualität wurde bereits durch den Arbeitskreis Rollenoffset
freigegeben.
(3) Veröffentlichung des SNP-Profils zusammen mit drei weiteren
Profilen
- Rollenoffset auf MFC Papier
- Offset auf gestrichenem Papier, NP-Raster (nicht-periodisch, FM)
- Offset auf *un*gestrichenem Papier, NP-Raster
Die drei Profile werden aus folgenden Gründen mit Heidelberg Color
Tool 3 und noch nicht durch unseren Arbeitskreis mit ColorLogic
Software erstellt:
MFC:
Die Charakterisierungsdatei für MFC Papier war inklusive dem Test des
Profils bereits im vergangenen Jahr abgeschlossen (WOWG).
NP:
Die Profile für NP-Raster wurden im Rahmen eines Fogra-Projekts zu
nicht periodischen Rastern (NP) erstellt. Die zur Veröffentlichung
vorgesehenen Profile wurden mit Heidelberg Color Tool 3 erzeugt,
Heidelberg war Projektpartner.
Das Projekt wurde z.T. über Fördergelder finanziert. Die
Projektpartner sind zur Veröffentlichung der Projektergebnisse
verpflichtet. Die Profile wurden im Rahmen umfangreicher, vom bvdm
finanzierter Drucktests mittlerweile überprüft.
In bewährter Weise sollen die Charakterisierungsdaten bei der Fogra
zum Download bereit gestellt werden, die Profile bei der ECI.

um im ECI-Beirat mögliche Optionen zu prüfen, ist die Beantwortung
der folgenden Fragen wichtig, worum ich hiermit bitte:
Welche Erfahrungen haben Sie/ habt Ihr bei der Konvertierung von CMYK-
Daten (bspw. von ISO Coated nach ISO Uncoated) gemacht, wenn die
beiden Profile *nicht* vom selben Hersteller stammen?
(1) Welche Probleme sind dabei konkret aufgetreten?
a) bei der ICC-Profilkonvertierung
b) bei der Konvertierung durch ein DeviceLinkProfil, das mit den
beiden Profilen erstellt wurde
(2) Sind diese Probleme *nicht* aufgetreten, wenn die beiden ICC-
Profile vom selben Hersteller stammen?
(3) Waren die Probleme so schwerwiegend, dass die Daten nicht
verwendet werden konnten?

Liebe Kollegen,
meine Reaktion auf Herrn Ottos Mail hatte ich - auch wegen derzeit
(zu) guter Beschäftigung - etwas zu schnell gesendet.
Nach wie vor liegt mir sehr an einem sinnvollen Profilvergleich als
Grundlage für die Auswahl zukünftiger ECI Offsetprofile. In der
aktuellen Konstellation ist dieses Vorgehen aber tatsächlich nicht
sinnvoll, denn:
Der Vergleich der ColorLogic- und Colorsolutions-Profile kann dank
derselben zugrunde liegenden ColorLogic-Technologie nichts anderes
als ein Unentschieden ergeben. Selbst für den Fall, dass eins der
beiden Profile etwas schlechter als das andere abschneiden sollte,
wäre es aller Wahrscheinlichkeit nach möglich, mit geänderten
Einstellungen die 'Schwächen' auszugleichen.
Infolgedessen kann die Entscheidung nicht durch unseren Arbeitskreis
über einen Qualitätsvergleich getroffen werden.
Ich werde deshalb die Situation dem ECI-Beirat schildern, damit dort
eine Entscheidung über das weitere Vorgehen getroffen wird.

Hallo zusammen,
Ich weiß, diese Frage gehört eigentlich an das Ende unseres Projektes, aber
ich stelle sie aus aktuellem Anlass trotzdem schonmal:
Wird der interne Profilname der neuen Profile gleich (schreibgleich) dem
Dateinamen werden?
Im Moment ist es ja so, das der der Dateiname ³ISOcoated_v2_300_eci.icc² und
der interne Name ³ISO Coated v2 300% (ECI)²
sich unterscheiden. Das führt zu Problemen bei automatischen Überprüfungen
wie bspw. bei dem derzeitigen Duon-Portal Projekt.
PDFs mit richtig angehängtem Profil ³ISOcoated_v2_300_eci.icc² werden als
falsch ausgesiebt, da ³ISO Coated v2 300% (ECI)² ausgelesen wird.
Verwirrung darüber habe ich auch schon bei (mehr oder weniger unwissenden)
Kunden erlebt, die sich in Photoshop unsicher waren, weil sie eben nicht den
genauen Dateinamen in den Profileinstellungen wiederfanden.

( Heidelberg PO 5.20.zip ),
basierend auf Fogra 39 und mit einer GCR Einstellung umgesetzt.
Eine erste Anmerkung zu Colorlogic (Copra) und basiccolor:
Die Profile arbeiten nahezu identisch für die Separation, im
Schwarzauszug sogar prozentgleich bis auf die Rundung 97/98.
Kurzresumee:
Der Test wird jetzt unkritischer, es bleibt also nur ein Kandidat
nach, da wahrscheinlich gleiche OEM ?

Liebe Lollegen,
wie bereits früher vorgeschlagen, kann der Aufbau unserer Testformen für
nichtperiodische Raster auch für die Testdrucke der AG Offsetprofile
(konventionelle Raster) benutzt werden. Die Testformen (für drei
Druckbedingungen NP-Raster) enthalten Bilder der Serie "roman16
bvdm-Referenzbilder", 2x die ECI2002 Farbtafel, sechsfach die ECI/bvdm
GrayCon und Volltonstreifen. Die obligatorische Druckkontrollleiste wird bei
der Formherstellung in der Druckerei ergänzt.
Eine lowRes-Datei der Testform (70x100) ist zur Ansicht beigefügt.
Die Beschreibung zur Durchführung unserer Testdruckserien und zum Aufbau der
Testformen (je 1 form 70x100) liegen zur internen Kenntnisnahme ebenfalls
bei.
