Hi Mr Suessl
sorry, that you all didn`t hear to much from me, i was the last to weeks in carribean sea,
now i m back home again!
the Assessment criterias seems to be very smart. To do an evaluation together with the
prints and the excel sheet with this specified criterias is an amazing way to do, i think.
ok!
With best regards from munich

*Betreff:* [WG Offset-Profiles] Tests prints | profile quality criteria
Dear collegues,
In order to prepare an unbiased quality assessment I would like to
propose the following:
Please let me know if you ...
would prefer another approach.
would like to change the assessment criteria:
Procedure
----------------------
(1) Sascha Bugai will send printed samples to all working group
members who expressed to participate in the evaluation.
these samples include different inking versions: ISO compliant,
higher/lower Black density, disbalanced CMY
(2) I will prepare an Excel sheet with the following criteria (see
below)
(3) Each member's feedback will be collected *anonymously*
(4) Per profile version (A, B, C, D) we will fill in the respective
rating
per criterion rating with points (0-5) where 0 points means bad
result - 5 points: excellent
(5) Excel sheets sent back to me
(6) Overview with the collected *anonymous* results sent via our
mailing list
like Version A: x of z possible points, B: y of z possible points
Assessment criteria
---------------------------
(1) Details/definition (Zeichnung/Kontrast)
details reproduced with good definition (5 points) vs. flat detail
reproduction (0 points)
(2) Smooth gradients (glatte Verläufe)
smooth gradients (5 points) vs. distinct posterization effects (0
points)
(3) *Gray balance* (Graubalance/Farbstabilität)
will be assessed in the print samples with different inking
(higher/lower black density, disbalanced CMY)
0 points: gray with distinct color cast
5 points: almost no color cast
(4) *Color stability* (Farberhalt/Vergrauung)
Unchanged color vs. e.g. less saturation/grayish colors
heavy GCR at least in the past caused problems like 'gray islands',
sudden shift to gray in gradients of dark colors
0 points: image colors changed (e.g. grayish)
5 points: image colors almost unchanged
(5) Reproduction of highly saturated colors (Gesättigte Farben/
Differenzierung)
This criterion reflects the rising importance of digital camera data
with highly saturated colors (blue tent 'Otto' image)
0 points: flat detail reproduction/ definition
5 points: excellent detail reproduction with clearly reproduced
colors/details
Best regards,
Florian Suessl
