I especially indeed used the matte laminate profile for two years on several Collector edition packaging.
The results are very interesting and they surprised many of our printers who have to deal with these issues until now.
We did some pre-productions, with and without it, on the same duet paper-ink.
The only difference has been the re separation with a different DVL.
The results are unambiguous depending on whether the profile we used.
Without this profile, the images appear flat with no contrast and they are a little bit shaded.
With the profile, however, the images are very close from the contract proof in term of sharpness and color.
They even gain on global visual quality.
So, it has been, for us, a very qualitative leap.
That’s why I look forward for its update.
We need to move forward to be coherent with the “new” F51 followed by our printer and the new ISO 12647-7:2016.
If not, we run the risk to be again inconsistent and not to be able to anticipate.

your thoughts are correct - they should be adapted. The shift in paper white and in gradation from F39 to F51 will have an effect on surface-finished prints too.
There just hasn't been a real demand from the market to start the effort. This means there is no schedule yet.
But we will discuss this, especially if more people are backing the request.
Perhaps you, or someone else who uses the profiles in production, can comment on the current matte laminate profile.
It has been created from many test prints at a time when matt laminate films were still very matte, so that the laminated prints were lacking depth.
Is the matte effect too strong for today's production?
