Hi,

Are you talking WIN only or? I think it will not work on a Mac. Maybe it is working for you when using a already installed ICC (prob by the software/ adobe itself) but if you refer to a specific ICC it wont work unless you install the ICC first.  Thats whats happened in this thread initially. Please feel free to email such a CSF-file to proove me wrong at 'mawe@dgli.se'

Hi Roger and Mark

It will work. I use it a lot with clients custom .csf files which they

provide totheir clients. As I said you only need to load the profiles if

you need house them in non Adobe software. But I always load them too

Œjust in case¹ ;-)

Hi,

Still leaves the question unanswered. Is it possible to include the

profiles within the CSF to make it portable for installation. Otherwise

there is no reason why the profiles characterisation data are in there?

A portable CSF-file would be easier to distribute than a CSF +

ICC-profile.

Hi

Re the difference in the file size of a Adobe .csf, this is often to do

with the file size of the profiles within the ?csf. For instance the

profiles produced using the highest quality settings in iProfiler are

around 8mb, which when saved in a .csf, will give a file size of 10mb!

So check the sizes of the CMYK profiles to see if they are different.

Well,

If I save two different CSF-files, one refering AdobeRGB and PSO Coated

v3, the other refering AdobeRGB and WAN-IFRAnewspaper26v5 they end up

beeing different in file size.

The former 2.2 mb, the later 1.4mb. PSO Coated v3 istself is 2.2mb, while

WAN-IFRAnewspaper26v5 is 1.4 mb. To me this could be an indicator that

CMYK profiles are indeed included in the CSF-file, while RGB are not, but

i?s only a guess?

    Hi!

I have a problem with one ISO Coated v2 300% (ECI) that I have

downloaded

from the ECI website. When I try to load it in InDesign, I get the

following

    error message:

"Some parameters in the colour settings file could not be used.

Default

    values will be used instead."

I have asked Adobe, and they get the same error message with this

file, but

they cannot tell my anything about what is wrong since the colour

settings

file is a third party product. They suggested I ask ECI.

I know a lot of people who use ISO Coated v2 300% (ECI) and have no

problem

with it. But I do not know which versions of InDesign they are using.

Has anyone else here the same problem? Do you know if this has

anything to

do with the latest update to InDesign (InDesign CC 2015.4)?

I know this is an old colour settings file, but my graphic design

agency

that I employ use it all the time, and I would like to be able to make

changes to their InDesign files and not mess anything up. If I can't

get

this file to work, is there an updated file that corresponds to ISO

Coated

    v2 300% (ECI)?

I would be most grateful if anyone has some input.

This message is confusing because the "color settings file" i.e. a

*.csf is an Adobe format. So there's a bug here somewhere, because if

the problem is with the ICC profile (which is not a color settings

file) or with parsing that ICC profile, the error message is

    sufficiently misleading that it's incorrect.

Exactly how are you loading this ICC profile in InDesign? There are

two ways: choosing the ICC profile in the working spaces:cmyk pop-up

menu, choosing an Adobe color settings file using the Load button in

the Color settings dialog (the button that appears under the Cancel

button). The CSF file can include ICC profiles embedded in it, which

makes it portable for not only containing color settings for Adobe

applications but also the ICC profiles referenced by those settings.

So what I'm getting at is there might be a parsing problem with the

CSF, in which case the question becomes what's the origin of that CSF?

What created it (application and version)?

If the problem happens only when loading the ICC profile in the

working spaces pop-up, it still sounds like an Adobe bug because this

is an ICC profile that's been around for a long time. I don't think

the answer you've received is good enough, but then I also don't

really understand the exact problem reproduce steps either.

Hello all!

I agree with Tobias.

Just change the extension name by txt and open it in Preview mode.

You will be able to see at the end bottom all the characterization data

in L*a*b* and XYZ.

In my opinion only the CMYK profiles are included?
