Hi Ken, Jouni,
If wanting to measure and analyse print (offset?) and proof you you
might like to look at a very interesting product from Florian Sussl of
MetaDesign, MetaPrintCheck whom I think is an ECI committee member. It
is very versatile as pretty much any chart readings can be used.

In answer to the earlier question, to simply read in strip mode, I have
never managed a read striaght to Excel, but use XRite's Measure tool and
simply paste the resulting file, not TOO cumbersome. This is how
MetaPrintCheck gets it's data when used with an EyeOne, via a tiny
application that reformats the data to suit.

Dear Jouni
I¹ve been looking into this for us here at Penguin Group.
Here are a couple of links to companies which provide strip reading for
assessing press sheets as opposed to proofs (which there are numerous other
software apps available), they all require there own custom strip to be
printed, however.

Dear all
Does anyone know a solution where you could read control strip with Eye-one
strip mode directly to Excel? KeyWizard does not seem to work in Strip Mode

ColorShopX from X-Rite with it's measurement posting option will do this but
it isn't terribly robust, not all of the data makes it on occasion, and
because the strip isn't defined or received in CSX - it can't throw an error
about an incomplete read. Part of the problem is the way that Microsoft
looks at the keyboard buffer (particularly on the Mac) sending a lot of data
(scan as opposed to a single measurement) creates problems. In some other
products we have an artificial buffer that slowly releases data but this has
it's own complications.

Hello all
Thanks for the good answers!
However when measuring prints not on profiling purposes but to compare papers, printing conditions etc.. direct export to Excel is the fastest choice. For some reason old software like keywizard and spectrochart seems to be much more flexible when wanting to measure something else that pre-defined testcharts.
Techkon has very good device-PC interface and of course keywizard also do the trick but it would be nice to use strip mode in those measurements.
